[He looks down at her with a smirk as soon as she settles down, keeping that arm right where it is.]
Well, we're going to have to fight other pirates and the government anyway. That's just part of being a pirate.
There are books with illustrations of known Devil Fruits out there, but I don't have one. So, no, you probably wouldn't have any idea what power you'd get before you aye it. I only knew what mine was beforehand because it was one of the better known ones, and Cora-san went after it for me when heard someone had it to sell off.
[Squinting up at him and that smug-ass grin of his. He can probably even see her plotting how she's going to wipe it off his face. At least, until she has an interesting thought--]
Hmm... what d'you think the chances are of finding some of those books in the library in Heaven? They've got all sorts of stuff from my world and others, so surely they'd have to have something from yours... Like your comics!
Huh. It's worth taking a look at least. It's not like I have a full schedule. If we do find a book about Devil Fruits, I can tell you about some of the ones that have current users.
[And he certainly wouldn't mind finding some Sora comics either, especially if they're recent ones... He'll just keep that to himself, though.]
I'd like that. [Now she's the one smiling like a little shit, like she already knows what he's thinking. Even if she doesn't, the idea he would agree to go to the library at all is enough to confirm whatever it is SHE's thinking.]
It's a date, then! [Snuggle snuggle, smirk smirk.] We could go tomorrow~? Since we are quite busy tonight. [Sure she's talking about movies, but it sounds like she might have other things on her mind.]
Alright then, it's a date. Let's go tomorrow. [He's actually a bit excited about this.]
Hmm, yeah. I'm definitely going to be occupied for the evening. [He certainly wouldn't mind more movies, of course... But he wouldn't be opposed to other entertainment either, judging by the way his smirk has sharpened.]
[Seras looks quite proud of the winning suggestion up until she catches that look of his and she has to disappear under her bangs to avoid his notice. Sure, she was being a little suggestive, but the combination of his smirk and the shift in his tone kneecaps her in a way that's almost impossible to recover from. ...Almost.
Bastard.]
Good, glad we're on the same page. [Clears her throat and reaches across him to set her drink down on the nightstand.]
But I suppose now the question is-- [Very casually swinging one leg over both of his to straddle his lap for a face-to-face conversation. Very not suggestive, very efficient and economical. Nothing else.]
"What shall we occupy ourselves with?" Hm? [Beaming, wiggling.] We still have all night, soooo we could fit in another movie? There is a second one in this series. Ooor...
Hmm... [He hums contemplatively, but his gaze is intense.]
Well, lets start that second movie and go from there... See how we feel, yeah? [And the smirk stays on, with reaction making him feel pretty pleased with himself.]
[She tilts her head slightly with a curious (read: skeptical) quirk of her brow, but says nothing to indicate that she knows that he knows that she knows he's just being a nerd with a capital N.]
You've a strong will, Captain.
[But she will not elaborate. Instead she removes herself from his lap so she can go get that next movie set up.]
So—! [Moving on.] Sequels are usually kind of hit-or-miss? Either they're super good or super bad! So I guess we'll see if this one's as cool as the last!
[He frowns a bit as she retreats, which he tells himself is stupid. She just has to change the... movie thing.]
I'm not sure if I can tell a good movie from a bad one yet, anyway. Nothing to do for it but watch more and gain experience... Anyway, as long as it's got more pirates it can't be all bad.
[At least the view is nice? She opted for just an oversized shirt for tonight, granting him the occasional peek of black lacy boy-shorts when she bends over to put the first tape away and pull out the next.]
Mhmm, I guess it would be hard to really tell when you've only seen the one, huh. [Glancing coyly over her shoulder.] I could tell you had a great time with first one, though. I don't think I've seen your eyes sparkle like that before~
[Pushing the tape into the player before returning to the bed with that cheeky little grin.]
[Hmm, yeah, those little glimpses are suddenly grab his attention. He quickly looks away as soon as she turns back.]
It was entertaining, but I'm pretty sure you're imagining that sparkle. [She wasn't.] I guess we'll see if that was just a fluke or not.
[He turns his face back to her as she returns to the bed, realizing with some embarrassment that it was pretty silly of him to pretend not to be looking when he's pretty sure they'd just been flirting in the first place.]
[Laying out on her side beside him, head propped up on one hand while the other reaches out to draw idle circles on his stomach. It's not surprising that he's being resistant to the idea that he may have looked like he enjoyed something, but she has to wonder...]
Mm. I guess we will.
[There's a thoughtful hum before she stops her tracing and lays her palm flat, casting her gaze up to meet his.]
...You do know that it's okay to like things, right? [The curse of liking men like him is that they are all allergic to emoting...]
[She sits up and sits cross-legged in front of him, leaning in as far as she can without toppling over. Normally she would have opted to sit on his lap to coax this answer out of him, but they're going to attempt to watch this movie (whenever the ads finish up) and that kind of behavior isn't conducive to film appreciating! Besides, if they get started, she might not want to stop.]
I know there's things you like! I saw what you looked like when you saw your comics on that table the other day, and it was adorable. [BEFORE he can complain about her calling him adorable, she pushes forward.] And you looked like that when you were watching that movie! I dunno if you know, but that's the point of movies, by the way. T'make you feel things! And you did! [Reaching out to boop his nose (one of these days she's going to get bitten, she just knows it).] I saw it! You can't fool me!
[Now he does turn away, and yeah, that is a definitely a pout on his face.]
Fine Yes, I enjoy comics, I enjoyed the first movie, and I'll probably enjoy the second movie. I like watching pretend fights and fake adventure. Happy?
[He should at least get rewarded for his honesty, so she pulls herself forward onto her knees and reaches out for him, tilting that pouty face of his to smooch the available cheek. He'd get more if he turned to face her, but she's not going to force that (yet.)]
You're in luck, because I've got tons of action and adventure to share with you! Now that I know it's something you like, we can bond over it! [She can't believe she's having to explain how mutual interest (beyond dastardly pirate activities) can strengthen a bond, but she's going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume pirates must not get up to much of that where he's from.]
And I wanna read Sora, too. [She's being earnest! And with no goal in mind other than to simply enjoy a thing with him!] I'd love to be able to talk to you about it!
It's... tough to overcome habit. I keep up the image for a reason, you know. At least I did back where I come from.
[He sighs and forces himself to relax.] Those sound like... fun [He's trying, ok?] Are pirates a common theme?
I'll look for some Sora comics with you, when we go to the library. Even if they don't have a complete collection, I can help fill in some of the gaps.
