I found it at the bottom of a bargain bin in a crappy shop in Hell. Seemed worth the dollar I paid for it.

And I see you're trying out a new look.

[He raises an eyebrow as if to ask what that's about.]

It's so you. [Snickergiggle.] If it takes a dollar to make you smile, then it's worth every penny~! [Or something? She cant remember how that one's supposed to go.]

Oh, uh-- yeah! Seems like this place thought I could use a chop. Woke up and it was just gone! [Laughs, rubbing at the back of her (too bare, still) neck.]

D'you like it? [Ironic peace sign pose with a wink, like she's taking a picture and waiting on his approval.]

I don't know about smiling, but I don't hate it. [He shrugs

Huh. Better than paying for it, at least... Looks good. [nod.] Refreshing.

[Rolls her eyes with a grin.] Oh right, I forgot you were allergic to the small joys of life.

[Here's another small joy, an ice cold beer, freshly opened and placed right in his hand. You're welcome.]

But thank you, I like it, actually. Much more manageable, this way.

[She plops down next to him with her fruity wine cooler and grins.]

So, where've you been? What've you been up to? It's been a while!

[He receives the beer with a nod and takes a sip immediately.]

Thanks... I've mostly been taking things easy just in case I got my limbs suddenly re-arranged again, but fortunately there hasn't been any more of that. What about you, aside from sudden haircuts?

[Takes a deep breath and finally comes to plop down next to him.]

Too much. Literally wouldn't know where to start. Those shadow things aren't fucking around. And these stupid flowers are making people say and do stupid things. [It's her, she's people.]

[He tries not to be super awkward about it as he stretches an arm behind her and drapes it around her to give what he hopes is a comforting pat on the shoulder.]

Yeah, sounds like a real shitshow. Definitely a good time for a drink, then.

[Accepting the pat, she then leans--or more topples like a falling tree-- into his side with a grumble.]

[He pouts scowls at the question, but leans back into her a bit anyway.]

Just more of that nonsense last month, ending up with a tail instead of legs at inconvenient times. I had to get fished out of the water a couple of times.

[Starts to laugh, but stifles it quickly-- she doesn't want him to be embarrassed.]

Aah, but you were so cute-- [Waves her hand.] That's not the point-- can you not swim??

[He looks away with a small huff.]

I guess I never got around to telling you that part... No, I can't swim. That's the downside to having powers from a Devil Fruit. It makes you useless in water.

Wh— really? That doesn’t sound very helpful at all for a pirate!

Even as a mermaid you couldn't swim? That's so sad!

It does add an extra level of risk. Usually the power granted is enough to make it worthwhile, though. It was for me.

Anyway, at least I had gills to go along with the tail this time, so I didn't have to worry about drowning.

That's what I was about to ask... I'm glad you didn't drown! [Pats his leg.]

I mean I guess it's simple enough... Just don't fall into water. But--

Wait, does that mean you'd drown in a bath? [Blinkblink]

Do you have to take showers exclusively? How sad! [Seras give him time to answer, damn.]

I can take baths if I'm careful and don't submerge myself more than halfway. I'm not completely helpless... But, yeah, it's a lot easier to just stick to showers.

Yeah. It doesn't take much, unfortunately. Seawater's more potent than fresh, though.

What do you mean by "potent"...? [She can only think about it in the context of smell??]

I mean it takes less seawater to weaken me than it does freshwater.

It weakens you! That's worse, somehow... I thought maybe the fruit just took away your swimming skills or something...

So like, if I splashed you with seawater, you couldn't use your powers?

Temporarily, if you hit me with enough of it, yeah. It's pretty troublesome.

[He bumps his shoulder against hers.]

I'll just have to trust you not to use that against me.

[She laughs and bumps back, grinning up at him.]

Damn, and here I was thinking I'd just get me a spray bottle of it and spritz you when you're bein' bad~
